Vitamin C may be your go-to vitamin when you feel a cold coming on, but it is also an iconic ingredient in the skincare world too. Uneven skin tone, rough texture, fine lines, acne scars, general dullness — you can name just about any common complexion concern and there’s a good chance that Vitamin C is a recommended ingredient.

Firstly, what is Vitamin C?

Vitamin C is a vital nutrient for health which can’t be stored in our bodies, so we need it in our diets every day. It is naturally found in a variety of fruit and vegetables and whilst citrus fruits, such as oranges and limes, are the most well-known source, many other fruits and veggies are bursting with it… plums, papaya, strawberries, blackcurrants, peppers, broccoli, brussels sprouts and chili peppers.

Therefore, a daily dose of this vibrant Vitamin is crucial for healthy-looking skin.

There are many forms of Vitamin C in skincare, but the most commonly used are Ascorbyl-6-Palmitate and Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP). Both forms are stable when formulated into skincare products and make for the safest option for your skin.
