International Women’s Day Q&A: Claire O’Hara
The wonderful Claire O’Hara, our SBC Marathon competition winner and the inspirational face of @slimmingworld_mumof1, answers our International Women’s Day questions:
What do you think it means to be a woman today?
Women today are amazing, I don’t know one woman who is perfect but why would they want to be, we are all unique individuals with so many different goals, qualities, and aspirations. We all aspire to be the best we can be, I see now more than ever so much determination women have, I think it’s amazing
What do you think is the biggest issue facing women your age today?
Social media… it’s a superficial world, where we need to see perfection all the time but I’m outside this bubble and I can tell you, you don’t need to be perfect. Nobody is perfect and as I said before why would we want to be, if that was the case we would all exactly be the same.
Who are your most inspirational female icons, and why?
My inspiration in life is my mum (cheesy as it sounds) she brought me up to know what is right or wrong, helped me when I needed helping, guided me down the right paths, without her I wouldn’t be the person I am today.
What advice would you give to young women growing up in today’s society?
Enjoy your life, stop worrying about what a celebrity is wearing or what they are doing on social media. Go out create memories with family and friends. Memories will last a life time and can’t be replaced.
Finally, what is your personal motto/mantra?
Push yourself because no one else will!!!!
