International Women’s Day Q&A: Chloe Elliott
The fabulous Chloe Elliott of Chloe in Curve, answers our International Women’s Day questions >>>
What do you think it means to be a woman today?
Being a woman today is using your voice to empower others. It’s being prepared to fight for what we are entitled to. It’s using whatever privilege we have to help other, less privileged women. It’s realising that helping other women to prosper and succeed is just as helpful as creating our own successes.
What do you think is the biggest issue facing women your age today?
In my opinion its Sexism, gender bias and the inevitable ‘glass ceiling’. We have women working in some of the most powerful positions in the world but still don’t have equal pay, equal rights or equal respect.
Who are your most inspirational female icons, and why?
Each and every woman pushing the #TimesUp movement. Every forward thinking, intersectional feminist. The women brave enough to speak out to help others. Most of all, my all time female icon is my mum Annette, who raised 3 girls singlehandedly and worked three jobs to help us succeed. I hope to have her level of determination some day.
What advice would you give to young women growing up in today’s society?
Stand your ground, speak with your chest. You are worthy, you are loved and you can succeed at whatever you put your mind to.
Finally, what is your personal motto/mantra?
Always speak your mind, but be mindful of how you say it.
